It’s rare these days to get new team rider announcements, but after taking first place two years in a row at the last two Suck My Comps and putting in a crazy amount of work on the daily, Statik aka Danny aka Big Dawg is officially on the Ruff Bike Co team! Go give Danny some love and watch his welcome IG edit here!
The time has come! If you’re looking to build yourself a fixed gear trick bike, you’ve come to the right place.
The long awaited tri-annual buyer’s guide has emerged. In this article, we’re going to break down your buying options as of now for FGFS and Trick Track products. Availability will vary depending on when you’re looking at this article, but we’ll do our best to foreshadow the market. Let’s dive in!
The Master shop has reopened! Since the reopen is temporary, now is the time to stock up on any parts you’ve been trying to get your hands on plus some new goodies.
For new products we’ve got a new hubset color in gun metal! This color is only available in a 3/8th axle. Loving the way it looks.
Next, you heard that right, I said HUBSET. That means Master 64 front hubs are now being offered, so you can finally perfectly match your rear Master 64 hub in black or silver! These hubs work with nearly all forks, so you don’t have to worry about axle size or anything.
Lastly everything else is restocked including frames, forks, black and silver hubs, axles, and everything in between. Store won’t be open permanently, so grab everything while you can on the Master store here!
Never done this before, but since we used a 10 point system for our scoring, we actually have numbered scores for everyone’s runs from the entire Suck My Comp 7 event. Click in to see the full scores!
Late on this cause directly after the comps wrapped up last weekend, I went to Vegas with the Ruff crew for some filming! Anyways, here are the official results from Suck My Comp 7:
I’ll have more pictures, thoughts, and video recaps coming some time next week. Overall though, it was a really really successful event and a really good time with a bunch of people who share the same passion. It’s a tiring weekend, but always worth it. Stay tuned for more on this.
Master just picked up the legendary Youri Slikker from Netherlands for the FGFS team! If there was anyone next in line to get a sponsorship, it was definitely Youri. With a recent fire web edit, impressive performance at Fixated Comp 2, and general overall shredding, this is incredibly deserved. Stay on the lookout for a bike check we filmed with him on the new bike dropping extremely soon!
Here’s what Master had to say about the pickup:
“Happy to announce the newest addition to the Master bike team Youri Slikker. It has been fun watching Youri’s riding progress over the years with his creative style and innovative tricks—all strapless by the way. Riding FGFS is already a complicated task with pedal timing and to do it strapless with finesse is next level. After watching him compete at the Fixated comp earlier this year I could tell that he had something special. Glad to have Youri representing for us in Europe and excited to see more from him in the future!”
It’s still really hard to believe. Last week was one of the toughest weeks the Fixed Gear community has had to endure. We lost a legend, an innovator, a huge personality, and a good person, Edward Wonka Laforte. Mike Schmitt is hosting a ride in his memory in Brooklyn this Saturday. If you’re in the vicinity, you should really consider going.
Late to posting this update cause I’ve had bad internet for the last two weeks, but Ruff Bike Co. has officially introduced its first international rider, Ismael Lebrech! I’ve known that Ismael is a great rider for a while now, but after getting the pleasure to see him ride in person, I can say that his dedication, passion, and intricate mind that he applies to our sport is nothing short of inspiring. I can’t imagine someone more deserving of support than this guy. Welcome to the team Ismael!
A few days late, but here are the official results from the Fixated Comp 2 that just went down in Den Haag! (Full gallery, closing thoughts, and video recap to come)
Shoutout to the Fixated man himself man Ritchie van Pelt for organizing everything and putting on a really fun day. Meeting the entirety of the Euro scene was such an honor. More thoughts and proper recap to come soon, stay tuned!
