Ruff In New York – Phone Gallery
Back in June the Ruff team took a trip to New York and tore up the city filming for our new video (premiering during SMC 9 weekend on December 5th and 6th). I shot so many cool photos with my real camera, but those will have to stay hidden for a while until the video comes out. For now, here are some views from my phone’s perspective during the short 4 days I was there.
Shawn Wolf – Leader Shadow Bike Check
Kyle with Allez sent through this KILLER find that Shawn picked up recently: The 2010 Tyler Johnson signature frameset: the Leader Shadow! Found it in such good condition too. As we get farther and farther from 2010, these frames are becoming increasingly hard to come by. Full gallery after the jump and shoutout to Allez and Kyle for sending these through!
Esteban In New York
While I was in New York in June, I had the pleasure of finally meeting the Colombian 700c shredder Esteban. I was familiar with his riding online, but watching him ride in person was extra fun. He charges everything with full speed with little regard for his own safety.
An important note with all this is that since I’ve left NY, Esteban has since been taken by ICE and deported back to Colombia. He was exposed to inhumane conditions and all of his things were abandoned in New York, leaving him to completely restart his life. All the edges are bound in heavy duty nylon rather than standard gros-grain, the bottom straps that go through the pedal have 4-ply of the same heavy duty nylon to prevent the straps from being floppy.

Euro Scene Check In – GO OUTSIDE
Euro scene with a STRONG showing in this! All the major players present along with some lesser known riders in the mix. Marc had a vision for this video and I’m loving the execution. Really captured the vibes, the good riding, and I’m really loving the excerpts from Crispy and Bean that were mixed in. Makes me wanna head back out that way ASAP to partake!!

I am always honored to throw these jam/comp with my brother and legendary rider Andy Sparks and am also grateful to the industry as a whole that so many people show up to throw down. This fourth installment (Concord, Santa Cruz, Oakland) of the BIGFOOTFIXED COMP was unique in the fact that Track or Die NYC was hosting a few races throughout the city and I couldn’t pass up having FGFS be apart of it.
