Chiller from Teppei and his BMX homie. Trick at the :38 mark is NUTS.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen a contest out of Japan (or anywhere for that matter), but YSO put on the “Fukuoka Loco” competition this past weekend and it looked like a bunch of fun. It’s really great to see the Japan scene in full effect. They house some of my favorite riders and really bring a unique style to FGFS, so this really puts a smile on my face and great to see some dudes out there that I haven’t seen ride in a while.
The format on this is interesting. For one: they combined trick track and FGFS. Not sure how I feel about that since the styles are hard to compare, but still cool to see everyone together. The bracket style play is interesting too. That format hasn’t really been adopted in the states, maybe it could be cool to implement?
RSK ended up taking the win on this one with Takashi taking 2nd place. Some solid riding all around though. I got word that they’re doing another competition in Osaka next. Maybe see you there?
The famous (and my personal favorite FGFS rider) Teppei aka NASTY made some big moves and started his own 700c frame company called FAST PIER. They just released their Seeker 700c frame. From what he’s said and what I’ve seen, it seems like the ultimate FGFS x Track bike crossover frame. The frame looks beautiful, fits up to 38c tires, and runs for just under $600. It’s a hefty price tag, but sometimes thats just how it be bruh. I’m definitely looking into copping one, and when that happens definitely expect a little review. In the meantime, he doesn’t have a website up, so if you’re interested you’ll have to shoot him a message in the Fast Pier instagram.
Lino just posted up the raw version of the faintly documented Coast To Ghost tour!
Devour films just dropped this 10 minute long edit of one hell of a crew shredding the shit out of Osaka in Japan. Heavy hitters in this including Wonka, Marco, Andy Sparks, RSK, Nasty, Takashi, and a bunch more dudes shredding bikes and boards. This edit has one of those vibes that makes you wanna just go somewhere and ride with your friends. Don’t miss this one!
What a fucking treat on a shitty Monday morning. Nasty is an OG and hasn’t lost his style throughout the years and remains one of the most enjoyable people to watch ride a bike. He keeps it smooth and techy with the pegless stuff and you already know there’s a ton of skids in this one. Seitaro with Devour films killed it behind the lens too. So stoked on this, don’t miss this one!
Nice little profile video of Nasty shredding the streets in his classic fashion.
The most famous competition in Japan, the annual SHIOKAZE event, has finally hit it’s final year after 7 consecutive years of throwing the event. Funny took 1st and it was well deserved, although everybody else killed it too. All good things must come to an end, and this event was a staple in the Japanese FGFS scene. Every year it’s seemed like everybody has so much fun and the vibes are always positive. Definitely worth a look. Devourfilms did a good job at putting this one together, as always.
This video was awesome. In order to promote the upcoming 2014 Shiokaze event in Japan, Devour Films put together this reel of all the past event highlights in to one video. Really interesting to see how the tricks and bikes changed over time in one video. 2014 should be a sick one. October 11th, 2014.
One of the sickest things to date in FGFS. If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard of it, this is Turf’s video that has been in the works for quite a while, and a way to introduce their new line of products. Their shop is now open including the Sling Shot Stem, and Bar Ends. Check em out and watch this video a few times. Schmitt’s part was my personal favorite and everybody else had some really amazing stuff as well. This was worth the wait. You can always expect quality production coming from Wheel Talk. SO sick. I’ll let the video do the rest of the talking, cause there are about a thousand more things I can point out that are sick.
