OFF TRACK Ep. 28 – Jackson Bradshaw (Again)

Today we officially have our first recurring guest, Jackson Bradshaw! Myself and Deacon connected with Jackson in person while we were all in Oregon to have a casual chat about Last Try, inspirations, bike parts, and much more. Enjoy!

LD Labs, but with Aerospoke

3 years ago I posted up a bike check of my lovely red LD Labs track bike. Just took some new pics of it with some minor changes including some better looking bars and an Aerospoke. Can’t tell which front wheel I like better, but the Aerospoke is certainly less stressful to ride with.

RESIST JBALL SIGNATURE “JAB” FORK OUT NOW!

Cats out of the bag! My Resist JAB 700c fork is out now. These utensils have been in the works for months now and I’m really happy with the way they turned out. I love colliding worlds, so my man Gus Molina helped out with the sweet boxing Cleto Reyes inspired decals. Chrome polish of course because chrome is king. Resist brake hole is the cherry on top. At 420 A2C and a long steer tube, these are perfect for either 700c FGFS bikes or to throw on your existing track bike to do some sweet barspins.

These are now available at the Resist webstore and bike shops that distribute Volume and Resist goods for $189. Here are the dirty details on the specs:

  • 420mm A2C
  • Steer Tube Length – 300mm
  • One-piece 1-1/8″ Steer-tube
  • Fits 45c + Tires
  • Full 100% 4130 Heat-Treated
  • Full CNC CRMO 5mm thick dropout
  • Dropout Offset/rake: 20mm
  • Weight: 2 lbs 8 oz

Another piece of news Resist announced to my surprise was a 26″ fork! This one featured a threaded top cap, short A2C at 391mm, and a butted steerer tube. BEEFY. Here are the specs:

  • One-piece 1-1/8″ Steer-tube
  • Full 100% 4130 Heat-Treated
  • Full CNC CRMO 5mm thick dropout
  • Dropout Offset/rake: 20mm
  • Weight: 2 lbs 6 oz
  • 391mm A2C
  • Steer Tube Length – 165mm

Both forks are available now on the Resist webstore!

Off Track Ep. 27 – TOM MOSHER

In today’s episode we got the honor to speak with one of the founding fathers of our sport, Tom Mosher! I was watching Tom’s bike checks, edits, and tutorials while I was just a wee fixie lad in high school 12+ years ago, so it was an absolute pleasure to have him in our virtual studio. We had so much to talk about and seemed to hardly scratch the surface, so I’d encourage you to check out the Patreon bonus episode to check out the extended discussion. Enjoy!

JOHNATHAN BALL – WANING 2024

Whats up. It’s been a long time coming. I premiered a nearly finished version of this video 6 months ago at Suck My Comp 6, so I”m a bit bummed it took this long to round out.

Overall though, I’m pretty happy with how this one turned out. Web edits in FGFS are rare these days, so I’m satisfied that I’m able to keep up a roughly once a year cadence. A lot of the clips took a long time, and a lot of clips were filmed during periods where I haven’t been riding my bike as much as I would’ve liked, so there was a lot of de-rusting going on. That being said though, there’s some tricks I’m really proud of throughout this one. Even though the ending tricks were a little lighter than I’m used to for myself, injuries plagued the filming of this and I decided to cut my losses and finish it off with what I had. It’s nearly 6 minutes of footage anyways, so I can’t complain too much.

I’ve already begun filming for a new project that I can’t talk about yet. So even though this video’s theme is all about sunsetting, I’m not done just yet. Anyways, I really hope you enjoy it and leave a comment if you did. Big thanks to all my friends who held a camera for me throughout.

New Edit Premiering Friday: Johnathan Ball “Waning”

On Friday, I’m premiering my newest edit that has been in the works for about a year and a half titled “Waning“. There’s a lot to be said about the making of this one, but I’ll save those words for the real post once the video drops. For now, mark your calendars for May 10th at 9:45AM Pacific Standard Time on the SMC Youtube channel. See you there!
