BACK TO TRACK RECAP + RESULTS

This past weekend on Saturday we held our highly anticipated BACK TO TRACK trick track competition. It’s the first trick track specific competition that’s happened since around 2009 and it was a major success! To give some info about how the day went, we started at our original spot and people started showing up. It was the PERFECT spot. Basketball court, poles to spin off, and a bank next to it to do tricks on.

Almost immediately, a park official came up and told us we all had to leave. It was a scramble to find a new spot and get everyone there, but we ended up at a park in long beach that worked out perfectly (sign of relief). We had about 50 people total and the energy was great. With the resurgence of Trick Track riding, I think people were excited to have an event specifically for it. We’re gonna be dropping a bunch of photos from the day this week as well as a video recap on our Youtube channel, so keep an eye out for that. If you didn’t make it out, I highly recommend you make it out next year cause it was a blast. Thanks to everyone who came, supported, rode, and everything in between.

PRIVILEGED BREAD 1

Copped a new handycam to start a more casual series: Privileged Bread. Had fun with this one so I hope you have fun watching too. Gonna be dropping these pretty frequently since they’re fun and easy to put together. Partial SMC squad and friends including myself, Pizza, Jacob, Deacon, and Suzie with some cameos. Bonus points if you can tell me who the cameos are. Enjoy!

Introducing: The BACK TO TRACK JAM

Today’s announcement brings us back to 2009: Keo spins, 650c front wheels, and track bike frames galore. Today we present the 1st annual Back to Track jam! A trick track exclusive event brought to you by us going down on September 25th.

Here’s how it’s going down:

This is a track bike exclusive mostly flat ground competition, but all kinds of cyclists are encouraged to come hang out. Bring your best keo spins, wheelies, fish n chips, and everything in between!

There will be 2 divisions: PRO and AM. Use your best judgement to decide where you lie. If you’re too good for AM though I’ll have to bump you up. PRO division will have cash prizes for top 3 and some product for 4th and 5th place, while AM division will have product prizes for top 5.

We’ll have riders perform 2 3 minute runs in heats of about 3 and judge the best run. From there we’ll narrow down a top 5 in each division. In top 5, riders will perform 2 solo 3 minute runs and we’ll take the best run to decide results!

We’ll have side events too that are free for everyone to participate in, including a best trick jam format, footdown, trackstand competition, and more! There will be something for everyone here.

Registration:

Non-refundable pre registration is available and preferred HERE for a reduced price of $5! Day of competition registration is also available for $10, cash only. All proceeds go towards the prize pool for the pro division winners. We will also be contributing $200 to the prize pot!

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND:

This is not a city coordinated event. It’s possible that we may get kicked out of the park, so we have a few riding distance back up spots nearby that we can head to so we can continue. Also because it’s not an official city event, we need to be as respectful as possible to everyone in and around the park.

Big thank you to all the sponsors contributing prizes including:

Can I Still Ride 700c?

Yesterday I woke up at 6AM and I suddenly got an urge to pull out my old 700c LDG Hammer build. I haven’t had a real session on that bike in about 3 years (since I started riding for Ruff), so I knew it was definitely gonna feel weird. I made some small changes to the bike recently and it inspired me to hop back on it, so I took it to the park to see if I can still ride it the way I used to. Enjoy and thanks for watching!

DESTROY FRAME DROP

Destroy just released their new “Destroy Unicorn Killer Comp” frame and it looks killer. A more compact version of their famous Unicorn Killer series. Thing looks ready to shred out the gate. Heres what Destroy has to say about it:

“The evolution of a classic DESTROY FGFS Frame. Built for all around carnage on the street at the park heck why not dirt. A compact version of the frame that set modern day FGFS. Now with a geometry oriented to fit a greater range of riders while offering a centered and reliable under body feel.

With the idea always being that the UNICORN KILLER COMP would be put though constant torture we complimented this frame with one of our strongest rear ends and dropouts that fit 14mm axels.”

Rare Track Bike Post: LD LABS TRACK BUILD

It’s been a while since I’ve had a track bike that I was stoked on. I’ve had this LD Labs frame built up for a while, but I wasn’t too hyped on the way it was set up and didn’t enjoy the way it felt. Finally though, I decided to put some time and $$$ into it to finally get it the way I envisioned. Also waiting 6 months for some Omniums on Ebay cause the fucker wouldn’t send the cranks didn’t help with getting this project finished, but alas! I present to you: my LD Labs dream build. (More photos + specs after the jump)
