After missing last year’s Trickcat/Tricklocross weekend, FOMO caught up with us, so we planned a trip to Lyon for the event’s second edition. Click into post for full write up and coverage!

Day 1: Travel
Originally, Youri, Finn, and I were supposed to take Youri’s van for the journey, but unfortunately, the engine broke down just before we were gonna leave. Luckily, Youri had a backup plan: a near-mint Volvo V70 with AIR CONDITIONING—something the van lacked, and a godsend considering it was going to be nearly 40°C that weekend. Taking the car instead of the van also meant hammocks as our sleeping setup for the days we were down there, which turned out to be a lot of fun.

Day 2: Trickcat
After a comfortable night, somewhere between two fields in central France, we packed up and made our way down to Lyon. There, we linked up with a crew of riders working their way through the Trickcat spots Jakub had lined up for us.

Day 3: Tricklocross
On day three, Jakub ran a “tricklocross” race: a three‑lap loop through a park on the outskirts of Lyon. Apart from a few DIY ramps, it was a straightforward tracklo/cyclo parcours. Most riders were on trick bikes, not really built for this kind of racing, which made the whole thing more interesting. After the competition, everyone headed to a nearby river to cool off—it was 37°C that day.
